Digital marketing is the process of promoting products and services through many online channels. You may specialize in social media or search engine optimization (SEO) and implement strategies that help websites to rank high in Google searches and attract more people.
The role is often one-on-one, and you could be working with designers, copywriters or animators on projects which is why collaboration skills are vital. You may also be required to research your client’s rivals, as this helps you know which methods of advertising are most effective for their business. Your duties will probably include making plans for campaigns, consulting with clients, analyzing possible innovative methods for digital marketing, and monitoring the effectiveness of current methods to ensure they’re offering good value for money.
You may be working on short-term contracts with business owners that require help to develop their brand or develop advertising campaigns. You might also have more long-term projects to manage on behalf of a digital marketing agency. You might be able to develop and manage their social media presence or oversee their website analytics.
You will be well-suited to a career in digital marketing if you are empathetic and can put yourself into the shoes of your customers to better understand their needs, challenges and wants.
